You won’t believe how insanely easy it is to make honey roasted peanut butter at home. Nut butters in general are easy to make at home, as long as you have a food processor. In fact, I talked about this when I made Honey Almond Butter a few weeks ago. Since nuts have fat in them, the oils release from the nuts as they are broken down in the food processor, leaving no need to add oil or anything else to get a creamy, spreadable consistency.
This simple recipe for Honey Roasted Peanut Butter uses just one ingredient, and many of you will be able to guess it.
Did you guess yet?
It’s honey roasted peanuts.
There’s no need to add any oil, sugar, salt, or any other ingredient to get a flavorful homemade peanut butter when using honey roasted peanuts. You won’t be able to resist eating this peanut butter by the spoonful!
Honey Roasted Peanut Butter
- 16 oz. Honey Roasted Peanuts (I bought mine from Trader Joe’s)
Pour the honey roasted peanuts into the food processor. Process for one minute on the most powerful setting and then let sit.
Depending on the power of your food processor, you may want to only go one minute at a time. I have both a Vitamix and a food processor but chose to use a food processor for this because nut butters make even the best food processors work really hard.
After letting the food processor rest for 30 seconds or so, process the nut butter again for a minute. Continue this pattern for about 4-6 minutes, the peanuts will reach a “crunchy” peanut butter consistency. Continue processing for a smoother peanut butter.
These pictures show you more detail about how the nut butter looks while it is processing. Each photo was taken 2 minutes apart.
Now that I’ve finally started to make my own nut butters at home, the last thing I want to do is buy peanut butter or almond butter from the store. It’s weirdly therapeutic to pulverize the nuts into a liquid gold that can go on so many different foods, like apples and bagels. And honey roasted peanut butter can be used to make peanut butter cookies or peanut butter pies. Or a HRPB&J! The list goes on and on, and I’m starting to get a little hungry as I write this!Yum
